TIRANA (Albania), April 10 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday its pre-tax profit from operations in Albania fell to 1.5 million euro ($1.7 million) in 2018 from 2.5 million euro in the previous year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Albania added 6.0% last year, reaching 37.5 million euro, UNIQA said in its 2018 financial report, citing preliminary figures.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment rose 8.8% to 30.4 million euro in the period under review, while premiums from life insurance fell 3.8% to 5.3 million euro. Health insurance premiums declined 6.5% to 1.8 million euro.

In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The group's gross written premiums in the region - excluding Romania - rose 8.3% to 307 million euro in 2018.
