August 23 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday its pre-tax profit in Serbia fell to 700,000 euro ($824,670) in the first half of 2017 from 800,000 euro in the respective period of last year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Serbia declined by 1% on the year to 21.9 million euro, UNIQA said in its financial report for the first six months of 2017.
UNIQA's gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Serbia came in at 12.4 million euro, up 2%. Gross written premiums from life insurance went down 5% to 7 million euro, while premiums in the health segment declined by 1% to 2.5 million euro.
In Southeast Europe (SEE), UNIQA operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - rose by 2% on the year to 143.8 million euro in the first half of 2017.
