SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), August 23 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday its first half pre-tax profit from operations in Bosnia increased slightly to 500,000 euro ($589,300) from 400,000 euro.
Total gross written premiums from Bosnian operations dropped by an annual 1.0% to 14.9 million euro in the six months through June, UNIQA said in its H1 2017 financial report.
Gross written premiums from the non-life insurance segment in Bosnia grew 1.0% on the year to 7.0 million euro in the first half of 2017, while premiums from life insurance lost 3.0% to 7.9 million euro.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Albania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - remained stable at 143.8 million euro in the first half, up 2% compared to the like period a year earlier.
