November 23 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its pre-tax profit in Serbia fell to 100,000 euro ($119,000) in the first nine months of 2020 from 1.8 million euro in the like period of last year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Serbia declined by 13% on the year to 34.5 million euro, UNIQA said in its financial report for the first nine months of 2020 published last week.
UNIQA's gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Serbia came in at 19.6 million euro, down 17%. Gross written premiums from life insurance went down 12% to 10.3 million euro, while premiums in the health segment went up by 7% to 4.5 million euro in the reviewed period.
In Southeast Europe (SEE), UNIQA operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - fell by 3% on the year to 148.5 million euro in the first nine months of 2020.
