November 23 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its pre-tax profit from operations in Montenegro rose to 800,000 euro ($952,200) in the first nine months of 2020, from 500,000 euro in the like period of last year.
Premium income from operations in Montenegro fell 5% to 7.6 million euro in the review period, while total gross written premiums declined 4% to 10.1 million euro, UNIQA said in its financial report for the first nine months of 2020 last week.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment decreased by 5% to 8.1 million euro, whereas premiums from life insurance fell 1% to 1.3 million euro, UNIQA said.
In the health insurance sector in Montenegro, UNIQA booked 4% fall in gross written premiums to 600,000 euro.
In Southeast Europe (SEE), UNIQA operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, N. Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - declined by 3% on the year to 148.5 million euro in the first nine months of 2020.
