SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), November 22 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its pre-tax profit from operations in Bosnia increased to 1.1 million euro ($1.2 million) in the first nine months of 2019 from 700,000 euro in the prior-year period.
Total gross written premiums from Bosnian operations rose by an annual 4% to 23.9 million euro in the January-September period, UNIQA said in its nine-month 2019 financial report published on Wednesday.
Gross written premiums from the non-life insurance segment in Bosnia increased by 11% on the year to 9.4 million euro, while premiums from life insurance remained unchanged at 13.7 million euro in the reviewed period.
In the health insurance sector in Bosnia, UNIQA booked growth of 3% in gross written premiums, to 800,000 euro.
In Southeast Europe (SEE), UNIQA operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, N. Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - rose by 7% on the year to 240.5 million euro in the first nine months of 2019.
