ZAGREB (Croatia), November 16 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Thursday its earnings before taxes from operations in Croatia decreased to 3.4 million euro ($4.0 million) in the first nine months of 2017, from 5.0 million euro a year earlier.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Croatia dropped 4% year-on-year to 55.4 million euro in the period January-September, UNIQA said in its 9-mo 2017 financial report.
UNIQA's gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Croatia rose to 30.2 million euro in the nine-month period, up 1% on the year. Gross written premiums from life-insurance fell 18% to 19.4 million euro, and premiums in the health segment surged 51% to 5.8 million euro.
In Southeast Europe, the UNIQA group also operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - totalled 212.0 million euro, up 3% compared to the like period a year earlier.
