SKOPJE (North Macedonia), April 10 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday its pre-tax profit from operations in North Macedonia fell to 400,000 euro ($450,725) in 2018 from 500,000 euro the year before.
The group's total gross written premiums from operations in North Macedonia rose 14.8% to 14.6 million euro last year, UNIQA said in an annual financial report, citing preliminary data.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment increased 15.1% to 12.7 million euro, while premiums from life insurance rose by an annual 12.6% to 1.6 million euro. Premiums from health insurance added 12.6% to 400,000 euro.
UNIQA Skopje is successor to the unit of Albania's Sigal in North Macedonia.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The group's gross written premiums in the region - excluding Romania - rose 8.3% to 307 million euro in 2018.
