PRISTINA (Kosovo), April 10 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday its pre-tax profit from operations in Kosovo fell to 800,000 euro ($901,450) in 2018 from 1.1 million euro in the previous year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Kosovo rose 11.5% to 11.4 million euro last year, UNIQA said in a presentation of its preliminary results for 2018.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment increased 7.6% to 8.6 million euro, while premiums from life insurance rose 34.5% to 900,000 euro. Health insurance premiums grew 21.8% to 1.9 million euro.
The UNIQA Group is represented in Kosovo by two companies: SIGAL UNIQA Group AUSTRIA and SIGAL Life UNIQA Group AUSTRIA.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The group's gross written premiums in the region - excluding Romania - rose by 8.3% to 307 million euro in 2018.
