SKOPJE (North Macedonia), April 8 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its unit in North Macedonia turned to a pre-tax profit of 600,000 euro ($712,637) in 2020 from a pre-tax loss of 500,000 euro a year earlier.
The group's total gross written premiums from operations in North Macedonia rose 4% on the year to 16.4 million euro in 2020, UNIQA said in a preliminary financial statement for last year.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment edged up 1% to 13.2 million euro, while premiums from life insurance rose by an annual 23% to 3 million euro. Premiums from health insurance dropped 33% to 300,000 euro in the year under review.
The UNIQA Group is represented in North Macedonia by UNIQA A.D. Skopje, which is a successor to a local unit of Albania's SIGAL UNIQA Group Austria Sh. A., and UNIQA Life Macedonia.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA is present in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania and Serbia.
