ZAGREB (Croatia), March 1 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its Croatian unit turned to a pre-tax profit of 5.1 million euro ($6.2 million) in 2017 from a loss of 10.8 million euro a year earlier.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Croatia dropped 1.1% year on year to 74.3 million euro in 2017, UNIQA said in its 2017 financial report released on Wednesday.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Croatia totalled 40.5 million euro in the twelve months ended December 31, 2017 up 2.9% on the year. Gross written premiums from life-insurance fell 13.1% to 26.8 million euro, and those in the health segment jumped 41.7% to 7 million euro.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - rose to 283.4 million euro in 2017, up 3.1% compared to a year earlier.
