April 10 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday it recorded a 500,000 euro ($564,000) pre-tax profit from operations in Montenegro in 2018, up from a 300,000 euro profit a year earlier.
Premium income from operations in Montenegro, including savings portion of premiums from unit- and index-linked life insurance, rose 3.9% to 10.7 million euro in the review period, UNIQA said in its financial report for 2018.
Total gross written premiums rose 8.6% to 13.4 million euro, UNIQA said.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment went up 11.5% to 10.8 million euro, whereas premiums from life insurance edged down 0.9% to 1.9 million euro.
In the health insurance sector in Montenegro, UNIQA booked a decline of 5.0% in gross written premiums, to 700,000 euro.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The group's gross written premiums in the region - excluding Romania - rose by 8.3% to 307 million euro in 2018.
