March 1 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its pre-tax profit from operations in Albania fell to 2.5 million euro ($3 million) in 2017 from 4.8 million euro in the previous year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Albania added 5.1% on the year, reaching 35.3 million euro, UNIQA said in its financial report for 2017 unveiled on Wednesday, citing preliminary figures.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment rose by an annual 1.9% to 27.9 million euro in the period under review, while premiums from life insurance grew 28.9% on the year to 5.5 million euro. Health insurance premiums declined 2.7% to 1.9 million euro.

In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The group's gross written premiums in the region - excluding Romania - rose by 2.2% to 283.4 million euro in 2017.
