November 16 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Thursday its pre-tax profit from operations in Albania fell to 1.8 million euro ($2.1 million) in the first nine month of 2017 from 3.9 million euro in the like period of last year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Albania added 13% on the year, reaching 26.9 million euro, UNIQA said in an interim financial report.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment rose by an annual 12% to 21.3 million euro in the period under review, while premiums from life insurance grew 30% on the year to 4.2 million euro. Health insurance premiums declined 9% to 1.5 million euro.

In Southeast Europe, UNIQA also operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The group's pre-tax profit in the region - excluding Romania - rose to 6.7 million euro in the first half of 2017 from 6.2 million euro in the like period of 2016.
