October 26 (SeeNews) - Italian banking group UniCredit said on Wednesday that its Romanian unit posted a 6.7% year-on-year increase in net profit in the first nine months of 2022, to 142 million euro ($142.3 million).
UniCredit Bank's pre-tax profit rose 4.9% on the year to 178 million euro during January-September, UniCredit Group said in an interim financial statement.
The Romanian arm of UniCredit Group generated an operating profit of 218 million euro in the first nine months of 2022, up 11.8% compared to the same period of 2021.
The net interest income of UniCredit Bank rose 20% year-on-year to 244 million euro in the period under review, while net fee and commission income increased by 8.7% to 64 million euro.
Loans to customers rose by an annual 13.7% to 7.3 billion euro, whereas deposits to customers increased by 15.5% to 8.7 billion euro.
UniCredit Bank operated 141 branches in Romania as of end-September 2022.
Last year, UniCredit's Romanian unit posted a 81% rise in consolidated net profit to 170 million euro.
