BELGRADE (Serbia), September 19 (SeeNews) – Unicredit Bank Srbija reported total assets of 390 million euro ($456 million) at the end of March, becoming the second largest bank in Serbia, the country's central bank said.
Unicredit Bank Srbija saw the share of its assets in the banking system rise to 11.5% from 10.8%, ousting Komercijalna Banka [BEL:KMBN] from the second position, the central bank, NBS, said in a quarterly report on the performance of the banking sector.
Banca Intesa remained leader in terms of assets in Serbia's banking sector in the first quarter of 2018, even though its share of the sector's total assets decreased to 16.5% from 16.8% at the end of last year. The bank's assets increased to 559 billion dinars ($5.5 million/4.7 billion euro) at the end of March, from 565 billion dinars three months earlier.
The assets of Komercijalna Banka amounted to 367 million euro, or 10.8% of total at the end of March, down from 11.0% three months earlier.
The return on equity (ROE) of Serbian banks stood at 10.5% at the end of March, while the return on assets (ROA) stood at 2.08%, NBS said.
