PODGORICA (Montenegro), June 1 (SeeNews) – Montenegrin hotel operator Ulcinjska rivijera [MNG:ULCR] led the blue-chip gainers on the Montenegrin stock exchange in May, as stock indices rose, bourse data indicated.
The blue-chip index of the Montenegro Stock Exchange, MNSE10, closed at 857.69 points on Wednesday, down 4.26% month-on-month and 5.26% down year-on-year.
The benchmark MONEX index, which tracks the 20 most representative shares on the Montenegro Stock Exchange, decreased by 2.05% month-on-month in May, reaching 11,014.06 points. The index rose 2.82% year-on-year.
Ulcinjska rivijera rose the most among the blue chips in May, adding 14.15% month-on-month to 7.5353 euro, as 126 of its shares changed hands in four transactions.
Telecoms operator Crnogorski Telekom [MNG:TECG] paced the blue-chip decliners in May, shedding 7.44% month-on-month, to 2.1171 euro. The company generated a share turnover of 50,312 euro. A total of 23,764 shares in the company changed hands in May in 42 transactions.
Turnover from trading in shares on the Montenegro bourse rose in May to 2.528 million euro ($2.84 million) from 861,091 euro a year earlier. Trading turnover was 10.3% lower than in April.
Trading in Treasury bonds contributed 100,457 euro to the bourse's total turnover of 2.628 million euro in May. A total of 143,997 securities of the FO02 issue, maturing on August 18, 2017, changed hands in two transactions in May. Investors also traded seven securities of the GB16 issue, maturing on November 15, 2020, and bearing a coupon of 4%.
A total of 635 transactions were concluded on the bourse in Podgorica in May, versus 768 in April. Stock market capitalisation was 2.819 billion euro at the end of May, down from 2.867 billion euro a month earlier.
