November 21 (SeeNews) - Ukraine's Smart Holding has reiterated its interest in investing in Croatia's financially strained Uljanik shipbuilding group, the Croatian government said.
During a meeting with Croatian prime minister Andrej Plenkovic on Monday, the owner of Smart Holding, Vadym Novynskyi, asked the country's economy ministry to provide it with detailed information on the current situation of Uljanik, the Croatian government said in a statement earlier this week.

Plenkovic and Novynskyi had a constructive and open discussion about the interest of Smart Holding toward Uljanik, the government said.
Last month, Smart Maritime Group (SMG), a unit of Smart Holding, said it is interested in cooperating with Uljanik. .A SMG delegation visited Croatia in October to study the experience of its shipyards and to discuss possible cooperation
The Uljanik Group is made up of two major shipyards -- Uljanik and 3. Maj, along with smaller subsidiaries. The group has been in financial trouble for some time due to the adverse effects of the global financial crisis on the shipbuilding sector in general which has led to a drop in orders for new vessels.
