August 16 (SeeNews) - A UK vessel monitoring system (VMS) tender has been awarded to a consortium of UK system integrator AST Marine Sciences Ltd and EMA Group, the Slovenia headquartered satellite tracking systems research and development specialist, EMA Group said.
The contract for the expansion of an existing VMS was awarded by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, EMA said in a statement.
The contract requires supply and installation of 300 BlueTraker terminals onto the UK fishing vessels of 12 metre to 15 metre length before the end of 2012.
The BlueTraker VMS terminal is the latest generation of marine graded satellite terminals especially developed for the monitoring of fishing vessels in Europe.
EMA Group develops, manufactures and markets a range of intelligent, remotely operable machine-to-machine equipment and systems.
