BELGRADE (Serbia), November 21 (SeeNews) – UK-based automotive power distribution systems maker Delphi Packard plans to hire 2,400 employees at its future factory in Paracin, in central Serbia, the local authorities said.
Delphi Packard, which already operates a production plant in the northern Serbian town of Novi Sad, wants to acquire a land plot of 20,530 square metres for the construction of the new factory, the Paracin municipal council said, quoting from a letter of intent it has received from Delphi Packard.

A total of 1,000 of the employees to be hired at the new factory will be from Paracin, the council said in a YouTube video published on Wednesday.
Paracin municipality expects the construction of streets and a power transmission line to Zmice industrial zone, where the factory will be located, to cost about 10 million euro ($10.4 million), an investment that will be financed through a long-term loan, Serbian news agency Tanjug quoted paracin mayor, Sasa Paunovic, as saying.
Delphi Packard aims to start production activities at the future factory in 2018, Paunovic added.
In February, Serbian prime minister Vucic said that the government, together with the local authorities, will subsidise the opening of new jobs by Delphi by 18 million euro by the end of 2018.
Delphi Packard is a subsidiary of Delphi Automotive, a global supplier of technologies for the automotive and commercial vehicle market, headquartered in Gillingham in the UK, with technical centres, plants and customer support services in 44 countries around the world.
