LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 7 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's state-run company 2TDK has received two bids in a tender for providing supervisory services in the project for construction of a second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line, local media reported.
A consortium led by Slovenian engineering and consultancy firm DRI has submitted a 17.72 million euro bid, while a tie-up led by its local peer Elea IC has filed a 17.99 million offer, state news agency STA reported over the weekend.
In May, 2TDK said it has shortlisted ten candidates in the tender for the construction of the second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line, which is divided in two lots.
According to earlier media reports, the contracts with the selected bidders for each of the two lots are expected to be signed by the end of 2020, with works to start next year.
In May, the European Investment Bank approved a loan of up to 250 million euro ($283 million) for the construction of Divaca-Koper's second track.
Luka Koper, the company operating Slovenia's Adriatic port of Koper, said in April it expects that the second railway track to Divaca will begin operations in 2026.
According to information published by 2TDK, the investment in the project will total some 1.2 billion euro. The new 27-kilometre long track along with the existing one will offer a combined capacity of 231 trains per day, or 43.4 million net tonnes of cargo per year, the company has said.
