SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), August 14 (SeeNews) – Turkish company Kozuva wants to take over the management of Bosnia's Tuzla International Airport under a concession contract, local media reported.
Representatives of Kozuva proposed to the government of Bosnia's Tuzla Canton to be awarded a concession contract to run the airport during their second official visit to Tuzla, which took place on Monday, news daily Oslobodjenje reported.
During their first visit, Kozuva expressed interest in making significant investments in the development and expansion of the capacities of the Tuzla airport.
The government did not reject their proposal on Monday but requested a complete and detailed offer, Oslobodnjenje said.
"This is the second meeting and we now have a concrete offer. They want a concession contract, they have clearly stated this, but we still do not know the details, so the government has requested them to submit by the next meeting the conditions under which they would agree to the concession: how much they are willing to pay, for how many years, which investment projects will be carried out and the like," the news daily quoted Tuzla airport director, Rifet Karasalihovic, as saying.
Over the last seven years, from the start of 2011 to the end of 2017, Tuzla airport welcomed 1.33 million passengers in total. In 2017, passenger traffic at the airport soared 72% on the year to 535,596.
Tuzla is based in the Federation, one of the two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Serb Republic.
