May 29 (SeeNews) - Turkey's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 4.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2020, the country's statistical office said in a first estimate on Friday.
Economic output totalled 1.07 trillion lira ($157 billion/141 billion euro) at current prices in the January-March period, TurkStat said in a statement.
Seasonally and calendar adjusted GDP grew by 0.6% in January-March, compared with the previous quarter.
Government consumption expenditure increased by 6.2% year-on-year, while consumption expenditure of resident households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISH) grew 5.1% in the first quarter.
In the three months under review, imports of goods and services increased by 22.1% year-on-year, whereas exports fell by 1%.
