June 26 (SeeNews) - Turkish automotive manufacturer TEMSA said it has won a 46.5 million euro ($52.9 million) bus procurement tender in Romania.
As the winner of the tender launched by Romania's ministry of internal affairs, TEMSA will export 326 LD12 SB model buses to the country, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
"Export plays an important role not only for ours but to our country's growth figures. We will deliver the 326 buses that will be produced in Adana to Romania in a two-year period. I wish this sale, which will make a positive contribution to our export figures, will be beneficial to TEMSA and the Turkish automotive industry," TEMSA CEO Hasan Yildirim said during the contract signing ceremony.
Evren Unver, representative of Temsa owner True Value Capital Partners, commented that Europe has a very important place in the company's growth targets.
"These sales in Romania will serve our European Union targets for 2019 and strengthen TEMSA's position in the market," Unver said.
Swiss-based True Value Capital Partners bought TEMSA from Turkish industrial and commercial conglomerate Sabanci Group earlier this month.
Founded in 1968 and operating from a 510,000 square-metre manufacturing plant in Adana, Turkey since 1987, TEMSA produces over 10,000 coaches, buses and light trucks per year.
