ANKARA (Turkey), May 29 (SeeNews) – Registrations of road motor vehicles in Turkey plunged by 26% year-on-year in April, reaching 40,171, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
On a monthly comparison basis, the number of commercial vehicle registrations decreased by 44% in April, TurkStat said in a statement.
In terms of types of vehicles, tractors and trucks were the only groups to post annual growth in April - by 19% and 5.3%, respectively.
Registrations of special purpose vehicles fell by 65% year-on-year, while those for cars decreased by 34% year-on-year. Registrations were down 28% for small trucks, 17% for motorcycles, 16% for buses and 9.9% for minibuses.
Of the total number of road motor vehicles registered in April, cars accounted for 54%, followed by small trucks with a 16% share, motorcycles with 14%, tractors with 8.2%, trucks with 3.6%, mini-buses with 2.1%, buses with 0.9% and special purpose vehicles with 0.3%.
