April 30 (SeeNews) - Turkey's trade deficit widened to $21.68 billion (16.58 billion euro) in the first quarter of 2013 from $20.63 billion a year ago, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Tuesday.
Exports and imports both grew by 5.0% on the year to $37.07 billion and $58.76 billion, respectively, the institute said in a statement.
Turkey's trade gap narrowed 1.1% on the year to $7.39 billion in March alone as exports decreased 0.3% to $13.18 billion and imports declined 0.6% to $20.56 billion. Germany was Turkey's main export market, followed by Iraq, the UK and Italy, while China was the largest exporter to the country, the institute said.
