September 10 (SeeNews) - Turkish power producer and trader Odas Elektrik Uretim Sanayi Ticaret [BIST:ODAS] said Tuesday it had acquired 92% of local coal mining firm Can Komur ve Insaat as part of its plans to set up a thermal power plant in the Canakkale province.
The miner, acquired for 6.6 million Turkish lira ($3.2 million/2.5 million euro) in cash, has loyalty rights for a site in Canakkale province's Can district where Odas Eletkrtik intends to set up a thermal power plant with initial capacity of 100 megawatts to 150 megawatts, it said in a bourse filing.

The acquisition follows a research on the sufficiency of the coal reserves at the site as part of a study carried out by Odas Eltkrtik on the feasibility to establish a thermal power plant on there, Odas Elektrik said.
