SOFIA (Bulgaria), August 26 (SeeNews) - Turkey-based commercial vehicles manufacturer Karsan has expressed interest in a project for delivery of electric buses to the city of Dobrich, in northeastern Bulgaria, local media reported.

Karsan is the first company to express its interest in the project which the municipal council of Dobrich has submitted for approval to the regional development ministry on August 19, privately held Focus news outlet quoted a representative of the Dobrich municipality-owned public transport company as saying.

The municipal council is hoping to attract EU financing under operational programme Regions in Growth 2014-2020 for the procurement of electric buses. The project targets the purchase of four electric buses along with charging stations.

Bursa-headquartered Karsan operates in 20 countries worldwide and is the sole owner of Karsan USA and Karsan Europe.
