April 7 (SeeNews) - Turkey's health minister Fahrettin Koca said that the number of coronavirus cases in the country has jumped to 30,217 as of April 6, with the death toll reaching 649, local media reported.

A total of 3,148 new patients were diagnosed with the COVID-19 disease and 75 people died from it in the past 24 hours, Sabah Daily quoted Koca as saying on Monday.

The number of recoveries has increased to 1,326.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that Turkey will set up two new hospitals in Istanbul with a capacity of 1,000 beds each to support the fight against the coronavirus outbreak. The hospitals should be complete within 45 days, Anadolu news agency quoted Erdogan as saying.

Turkey recently imposed an all-day curfew for people under the age of 20 in addition to a nationwide 24-hour curfew on weekends for people aged 65 or over introduced earlier.

As of Friday evening, Turkey had put under quarantine 31 of its 81 provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
