April 6 (SeeNews) - Turkey's health minister Fahrettin Koca said that the number of coronavirus cases in the country has jumped to 27,069, as the the infection claimed 574 lives thus far, local media reported.

A total of 3,135 new patients were diagnosed with the COVID-19 disease and 73 people died from it in the past 24 hours, Sabah Daily quoted Koca as saying on Sunday.

So far, 1,042 people have recovered from the disease in Turkey.

In an effort to contain the coronavirus outbreak, Turkey imposed an all-day curfew for people under the age of 20. The country previously enforced a nationwide 24-hour curfew on weekends for people aged 65 or over, as well as citizens with chronic health conditions.

As of Friday evening, Turkey had put under quarantine 31 of its 81 provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
