February 13 (SeeNews) - Turkey's car exports rose by 3.2% year-on-year in January, surpassing $2.4 billion (2.2 billion euro), local media reported, citing data by Uludag Automotive Exporters' Association (OIB).
The automotive industry's exports accounted for 16.3% of the country's overall exports in January, Daily Sabah reported on Wednesday.
Private car exports alone grew by 27% on the year in the month under review.
Car sales to France totaled $276.84 million, a rise of 23% year-on-year, while sales to Spain increased by 29% to $168.69 million.
Exports to Egypt surged by 115% in January, surpassing $48 million, whereas sales to Azerbaijan rose by 119% to $10.89 million. Sales to Iran were up by 161% to slightly over 10 million, while exports to Croatia jumped by 121% to $11.5 million, according to the media report.
