March 16 (SeeNews) - Turkish air carrier Atlas Global on Wednesday started operating regular flights connecting Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Belgrade, the Serbian government said.
The daily flights, operated under a commercial agreement between Atlas Global and flag carrier Air Serbia, are expected to increase the number of Turkish tourists visiting Belgrade, the government said in a statement on Wednesday.
Atlas Global will fly from Istanbul to Belgrade Nikola Tesla airport and back once a day, seven days a week, according to the flight schedule posted on the corporate website. Tickets for the flight, operated by an Airbus A320 jet, are available until October 14.
The number of Turkish tourists who visited Serbia last year grew by 30%, Serbian trade and tourism minister Rasim Ljajic said in the statement.
Serbia's exports to Turkey rose by 10.8% to 30 billion dinars ($259.3 million/242 million euro) in 2016, while imports from Turkey increased 18.1% to 74.3 billion dinars, according to data from Serbia's statistical office.
Atlas Global, formerly known as Atlasjet International Airlines, is a subsidiary of Turkish travel and tourism services group Ets Ersoy Turistik Servisleri.
