October 23 (SeeNews) - Registrations of new motor vehicles in Turkey increased by 6.9% year-on-year to 784,586 units from January through August, the country's statistics institute said on Wednesday.
The total number of vehicles registered in Turkey reached 17.6 million by the end of August. Passenger cars had a share of 51.4%, followed by small trucks with 16.4% and motorcycles with 15.3%, the institute said in a statement.
In August alone new motor vehicle registrations in the country fell by 5.4% on the year and by 35.5% month-on-month to 86,274 units. Cars accounted for 55.8%, followed by motorcycles with a 23.3% share and small trucks with 11.8% of the new registrations.
