October 11 (SeeNews) - Turkey's current account deficit expanded to $44.29 billion (32.72 billion euro) in the eight months through August from $35.35 billion a year earlier, the country's central bank said Friday.
Foreign trade deficit widened to $54.36 billion in the January-August period from $45.43 billion a year ago, the bank said in a statement.
Non-residents’ net direct investment in Turkey decreased by $2.135 billion on the year to $7.49 billion in the eight-month period, and residents’ net direct investment abroad declined by $1.004 billion to $1.745 billion.
