May 29 (SeeNews) - Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the country will allow cafes, restaurants, parks and sports facilities to reopen and intercity travel to resume as of June 1, following a coronavirus pause, local media reported.
The government will also allow driving schools, museums, daycare centers and kindergartens to reopen on the same date, but bars will remain closed, Daily Sabah quoted Erdogan as saying on Thursday following a weekly cabinet meeting.
Erdogan added that some restrictions on the movement of citizens over 65 and under 18 will remain in force.
In addition, the interior ministry has announced that 15 provinces, including Istanbul, will remain under lockdown the upcoming weekend, according to the report.
Earlier on Thursday, Turkey resumed its high-speed train service, while mass prayers in mosques will resume on Friday. Earlier, the authorities allowed shopping malls and hairdressers to reopen.
Turkey has confirmed 159,797 coronavirus cases, including 4,431 deaths, as of Thursday, the country's directorate of communications said.
