SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), November 21 (SeeNews) – Turkey is ready to finance a project to link Belgrade and Sarajevo via a fast road, Bosnia's state-level transport ministry said on Monday following a meeting between minister Ismir Jusko and Serbian trade minister Rasim Ljajic.
Both Bosnia and Serbia expressed interest in the project, especially the former which has already mapped the route into its transport strategy, Bosnia's transport ministry said in a statement.
A follow-up meeting on the topic will be held between the transport and trade ministries of Bosnia and Serbia in the first half of December, according to the statement.
Currently the trip from Sarajevo to Belgrade, 293 km in length, takes some 5 hours by car.
Last month, Ljajic said that Bosnia and Serbia opened a a joint trade and tourism office in Istanbul to promote the economic and tourism potential of the two countries in Turkey.
Ljajic, Bosnian foreign trade minister Mirko Sarovic and Turkish economy minister Nihat Zeybekci opened the new office ahead of a trilateral business forum in Istanbul.
