May 18 (SeeNews) - Canada-based gas and oil producer Trillion Energy International said on Wednesday it has signed a contract to secure a jack-up rig from Romanian offshore construction services provider Grup Servicii Petroliere (GSP).
The contract was signed through Trillion's subsidiary, Park Place Energy Turkey Limited for its 2022 – 2023 drilling programme on its SASB natural gas field located offshore Turkey, Trillion Energy said in a press release.
The Canadian group has made an advance payment of $1 million (950,000 euro) and a mobilization cost of $0.8 million to GSP Offshore. The contract provides a daily rig services rate of $95,000 per day and a minimum of 100 days of drilling time. Trillion anticipates the total project time at 8-9 months.
"Mobilization of the Uranus jack-up rig is expected in late July 2022 from Romania arriving in August 2022 onsite, following the completion of its current operations in Romania," Trillion Energy said.
GSP is a privately-owned Romanian group, which carries out offshore drilling and construction activities, production of oil equipment, as well as activities in the tourism sector. The group operates an extensive and diversified fleet including eight mobile offshore drilling rigs, twelve multifunctional offshore support vessels, one MEDEVAC and three construction vessels, according to its website.
Trillion Energy is an oil and gas producing company with multiple assets throughout Turkey and Bulgaria.
Earlier this month, Trillion Energy said it is looking at accelerating the start of exploration at its licensed Vranino 1-11 natural gas block in northeastern Bulgaria, in light of changes in the country's energy environment resulting from the suspension of Russian Gazprom's deliveries.
