October 19 (SeeNews) - Turnover on Slovenia's Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) almost doubled on Wednesday, as trading in shares of fuel retailer Petrol [LJE:PETG] generated nearly a third of the day's total, bourse data showed.
Total stock turnover increased to 2.45 million euro, from 1.29 million euro on Tuesday.
Petrol contributed 807,550 euro to Wednesday's turnover, up from 466,670 euro on Tuesday. The fuel retailer was followed by drug maker Krka [LJE:KRKG] with turnover of 530,130 euro and port operator Luka Koper [LJE:LKPG] with 523,770 euro, bourse data indicated.
The SBITOP index, which tracks the most liquid and highly capitalised stocks on the LJSE, gained 0.29% to 730.37 points after rising 0.71% on Tuesday.
Out of the LJSE seven blue chips, four ended higher, two closed lower, and one closed unchanged.
Slovenian home appliances Gorenje [LJE:GRVG] was the top blue-chip gainer on Wednesday, closing at 8.5 euro, up 3.03%.
The price of Gorenje's shares has been rising since October 11, with the most significant increase recorded after an announcement that Croatian businessman Kristijan Floricic had bought 84,000 shares, increasing his stake in the company to 5.25%.
Insurer Triglav [LJE:ZVTG] led the blue chip decliners on Wednesday, falling 1.24% to 22.22 euro.
