SKOPJE (North Macedonia), November 12 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in the first nine months of 2019 increased by 4.8% year-on-year to 605,039, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 1.1% to 356,651 in the period under review, Makstat said in a statement.
The total number of tourists staying in the country in the nine months through September increased by 3.4% year-on-year, reaching 961,690.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in North Macedonia in January-September rose 1.9% to 2,807,093.
In September alone, the total number of tourists staying in North Macedonia increased by 12.8% year-on-year to 122,645, including 94,983 foreign nationals.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in September, 12.7% came from Turkey, 7.6% from Poland and 7.3% from Serbia.
