SKOPJE (North Macedonia), August 13 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in the first half of 2019 increased by 3.5% year-on-year to 312,258, the country's statistical office said.
The number of domestic tourists rose 5.2% to 138,604 in the period under review, Makstat said in a statement on Monday.
The total number of tourists staying in the country in the six months through June increased by 4.0% year-on-year, reaching 450,862.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in North Macedonia in January-June rose 2.1% to 943,607.
In June alone, the total number of tourists staying in North Macedonia increased by 16.6% year-on-year to 119,334, as 89,312 of them were foreign nationals.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in June, 21.3% came from Turkey, 7.3% from Serbia and 6.9% from Poland.
