August 7 (SeeNews) - Tourist arrivals in Zagreb city and on Croatia's Adriatic coast rose 9% to 7.59 million through July with overnights up 7% to 40 million, the country's tourism ministry said on Friday.
Tourism is a key industry for Croatia, accounting for around a fifth of the country's gross domestic product.
Croatia's five biggest feeder markets through July were Germany, Slovenia, Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland, the ministry said, quoting data from the country's regional tourism associations.
The Adriatic country reported an 5.6% increase in tourist numbers to 13.13 million in 2014, while overnights were up by 2.6% to 66.5 million.
