September 7 (SeeNews) - Tourist arrivals in Zagreb city and on Croatia's Adriatic coast rose 8% to 11.52 million through August with overnights up 6.5% to 66 million, the country's tourism ministry said on Monday.
Tourism is a key industry for Croatia, accounting for around a fifth of the country's gross domestic product.
Croatia's biggest feeder markets through August were Germany, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Poland , Slovakia, the Netherlands, Hungary and the UK, the ministry said, quoting data from the country's regional tourism associations.
The Adriatic country reported an 5.6% increase in tourist numbers to 13.13 million in 2014, while overnights were up by 2.6% to 66.5 million.
