January 14 (SeeNews) - Three municipalities in southeastern Bulgaria will jointly build a regional waste management system worth 29.3 million levs ($20 million/14.98 million euro), the environment ministry said on Monday.
The project will be financed under EU-funded operational programme Environment and will service the municipalities of Dimitrovgrad, Mineralni bani and Haskovo, the environment ministry said in a statement.
The waste management system will include a regional landfill for non-hazardous waste, an installation for waste separation with an annual capacity of over 42,000 tonnes, composting installation for green waste and a waste water treatment plant. The facility will service some 154,000 residents.
Construction works are scheduled to be completed by mid-January 2015.
