November 8 (SeeNews) - Estonian-based mobile payment company Fortumo said on Tuesday that together with Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor it has launched a direct carrier billing service in Bulgaria and Hungary.
"Fortumo is proud to continue our ongoing good partnership with Telenor and launch our payment platform in Hungary and Bulgaria. The world’s largest streaming services, app stores, social and gaming companies have plugged into Fortumo’s platform to collect revenue from users who do not have credit card, or find it inconvenient to use card payments online," Gerri Kodres, chief business officer at Fortumo, said as quoted in a press release.
Fortumo’s direct carrier billing platform allows users to make payments over a data connection by confirming purchases with one click on their phone.
On the local mobile segment, Telenor competes with Mtel, the local unit of Telekom Austria, Bulgarian telecommunications group BTC, which operates under the brand name Vivacom, as well as with 4G operator Max.
At the end of September Telenor subscribers in Bulgaria amount to 3.54 million.
