May 8 (SeeNews) - Telenor Bulgaria, a unit of Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor, said on Monday it has appointed Sasa Filipovic as its interim CEO.
Filipovic will remain at this position until the appointment of a new CEO, the company said in an emailed statement.
He jointed the Telenor Bulgaria's team in August 2013.
Filipovic will replace Michael Foley, who will continue his career at Telenor as CEO of the company's unit in Bangladesh.
Telenor Bulgaria's first-quarter earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) added 3.4% on the year to 61 million levs ($34.2 million/31.16 million euro). At end-March Telenor Bulgaria's subscribers numbered 3.4 million, down 6% year-on-year.
Telenor bought Bulgarian mobile operator Globul from Greece's OTE for 717 million euro in 2013. In November 2014, Globul was rebranded to Telenor Bulgaria.
On the Bulgarian mobile segment, Telenor competes with Mtel, a unit of Telekom Austria, telecommunications group BTC, which operates under the brand name Vivacom, as well as 4G operator Max.
