November 26 (SeeNews) - Serbia's state-owned Telekom Srbija plans to acquire more cable operators in the country after the purchase of Kopernikus Technology, and is still in the race for Telekom Albania, local media reported.
"The acquisition strengthens the competitiveness of the company and the access to new technologies, the value of the company increases, the number of users rises, and all this speaks about the importance of the acquisition of Kopernikus. That is why we will also buy a few more cable providers," daily Politika quoted on Sunday the Chief Marketing Manager (CMO) of Telekom Srbija, Vladimir Lalic, as saying.

Earlier this month, Telekom Srbija acquired cable operator Kopernikus Technology from Polish private equity firm Abris Capital Partners earlier this month.
Telekom Srbija is also in the race for the acquisition of Telekom Albania, Lalic said. "The tender is still running and I cannot tell you more about this process. But we are still in the race."
The Serbian telecoms operator said in October it placed a bid for the acquisition of Telekom Albania, in order to become a regional leader in the telecommunications sector.
