January 23 (SeeNews) - Telekom Romania said it will end its collaboration for the invoice payment service with state-controlled postal service operator Posta Romana from next month.
"Telekom Romania announces termination of the contracts with the Romanian Post, starting February 1, 2018, for the payment of invoices related to mobile and fixed services contracts, as a result of Romanian Post's non-observance of the contractual obligations," Telekom Romania said in a press release on Monday.
Despite the end of collaboration with Posta Romana, the customers of Telekom Romania can still choose from more than 40,000 points of payment - own shops network, retailers network, partner banks, ATMs and cash machines in the urban and rural areas, where they can pay their invoices.
Also, the various payment methods, such as online payment on the company's website, at MyAccount section, by direct debit, Internet banking, mobile banking complete the list of alternatives to payment of the Telekom invoice, the company said.
Deutsche Telekom is present in Romania through its 40% shareholding interest in OTE. OTE's units in Romania - fixed-line operator RomTelecom and mobile operator Cosmote - were rebranded as Telekom Communications Romania and Telekom Mobile Romania, respectively, in September 2014.

Romania owns 75% of Posta Romana, with the remainder held by local property restitution fund Fondul Proprietatea. The company has the largest distribution network at the national level, with more than 80% of all postal sub-units currently operating in Romania. Over 19 million inhabitants benefit from its services and more than 7.5 million addresses are covered by their own postal network.
In September 2015, the Romanian government failed again to sell Posta Romana as the Belgian postal services operator bpost, which was the only investor that had shown interest in the privatisation process, did not submit a binding bid for a 51% stake in the company by the specified deadline.
