March 28 (SeeNews) - Telekom Austria Group (TAG) said on Friday it has successfully tested 400 Gbit/s high-speed technology between Zagreb and Ljubljana.
The field trial was conducted between February 24 and March 6, 2014 and focused on testing the technology on already existing fibre optic cables, TAG said in a statement.
Jointly with Alcatel-Lucent, TAG's experts and technicians were able to demonstrate via this field trial that, between the capitals Zagreb and Ljubljana, it is possible to achieve a fourfold increase in data rates from 100 Gbit/s to 400 Gbit/s using already existing fiber optic cables.
TAG provides telecoms services in Croatia through local subsidiary Vipnet while in Slovenia it is active through Si.mobil.
