TIRANA (Albania), March 23 (SeeNews) – The Swiss government will provide a grant of 8.2 million euro ($10.1 million) to support programmes for decentralisation, local development and youth employment, the Swiss embassy in Tirana said on Friday.
Switzerland will offer funding and technical support in the areas of governance and economy, the embassy said in a statement, following the signing of two agreements between the head of cooperation with Eastern Europe at the Swiss foreign ministry, Ruth Huber, and Albanian deputy prime minister Senida Mesi.
Both projects are follow-up of previous phases of Swiss support for Albania, the statement added.
Two weeks ago, the 2018-2021 assistance strategy of the Swiss government in Albania was unveiled. The strategy encompasses several projects that directly or indirectly contribute to improvements in the investment climate in Albania.
According to the strategy, Swiss assistance will focus on areas such as legislative institutions – the parliament and municipal councils, energy efficiency, employment, democratic governance and primary health care.
