August 24 (SeeNews) - Swiss Maritime Investment company will become majority owner of Croatia's Sibenik-based NCP Repair Shipyard after buying 100 million kuna ($15.9 million/13.5 million euro) worth of shipyard's debt held by local Jadranska banka, local media reported.
The deal was signed back in July, following which the Swiss company has 60 days to deposit the money and become the majority owner, news portal sibenik.in reported on Wednesday.

Swiss Maritime Investment is backed by foreign investors from Denmark, the United States and Switzerland. By paying off the debt, it will be able to influence the future of the Sibenik company, which is currently insolvent, with a majority of hands at the shareholders table.
Turkey's Dogus was also interested in the shipyard, but instead bought a larger one in Barcelona capable of overhauling mega yachts, according to the media report.
